5 Reasons Why Your Business Needs SEO

March 31, 2022 | Grow

Despite what you may have heard elsewhere, SEO is alive and well.

This could be because just about 70% of online interactions begin with a search engine, though some studies have that statistic closer to 90%. Seems pretty necessary to us!

This means that the vast majority of online experiences begin organically with a string of text in a search engine.

In simple terms, the purpose of search engine optimization (SEO) is to increase your website’s visibility on search engines so you can attract the right visitors. Without SEO, your website may not be ranking high enough in search engines such as Google, Bing, or our personal favorite, Ecosia.

In this post, we’ll quickly overview some of the core benefits to SEO.

BENEFITS TO SEO

1. Organic Traffic Increase

Organic search will almost always be your primary source of traffic, and more traffic is a good thing!

According to Moz, users are far more likely to click on search results that appear near the top of the search engine results page. This is important to note as a well-executed SEO strategy will help move your website higher on the results page, increasing your chance to be found by relevant searchers.

2. Validated Credibility

Building a robust backlink profile and high authority domain will help your page climb the search engine results ranks more quickly. To build this profile your focus should be on maintaining a clean, credible, and trustworthy website that provides a genuine, effective user experience.

This will aid in earning higher quality organic backlinks and domain authority and goes full circle as Google interprets these backlinks as a sign of credibility, boosting your rank.

3. Conversion, Conversion, Conversion

Increasing conversion rates from Organic Search is an indication that your SEO efforts are effective. A contributing factor to this is how accurately Google can rank your website based on search intent – the more accurate your website is to the search query, the higher the chance of a conversion.

Since users who visit your website from a search engine’s organic result have a specific intent, they are more likely to convert if you have a solution to their search need well positioned on your page.

4. SEO is a Long-Term Strategy

Okay, so this may not immediately read as a benefit, but from almost every perspective it’s important to include SEO as part of your long-term digital strategy. Investing in SEO can be very cost-effective, creating long-term value for your website that will continue to grow over time, especially if maintained. It just takes time, and careful effort, unlike pay per click where you simply pay to rank – and when you eventually turn your PPC off, you say goodbye to your rankings, unlike SEO.

As your SEO efforts work to boost your search results rank, the volume of relevant traffic to your website will increase. Combined with the high-quality content you’ll be adding to your library, this increase in organic traffic will lead to more audience members and conversions.

5. SEO is Constantly Evolving

Despite what we’ve said above, SEO is so much more than just links, content, and keywords. To ensure your business remains visible to your potential customers it’s important to keep up with the latest news and trends – this ensures your website can evolve at the same rate as SEO best practices do.

An excellent example of this constant evolution is how searches including phrases like “near me” and “where to buy” have risen 200% over the past few years, according to Google. Also, almost half of Google searches are local searches, meaning users seeking products and services available in their immediate area. These two pieces of information provide an excellent incentive for local SEO – but more on that in a future post.

Evaluating your website regularly with advanced SEO tools like Moz and analytics platforms like Google Analytics will help you remain ahead of the curve and at the top of the results page, right where you want to be.
